I am researching my g.g.grandfather John Rainbow born Hackney 1815, died London Road, Clapton 1882 and wife Mary Caldwell born 1813, died 1868 London Road, Clapton. They married at Homerton Row Baptist Chapel, Hackney in 1846 and both were buried Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington.

Any information on children of the marriage would be much appreciated. We know John and Mary had Joseph Rainbow born Stoke Newington 1848 who married Maria Butler in Hackney 1872 and they had five children, Elizabeth, Arthur, Frederick, William and Adelaide. We also know John and Mary had Annie Rainbow born Stoke Newington 1855 who married Thomas Henry Browning in Bethnal Green in 1874 and they had at least four children that we know of, Mary, Frederick, Thomas, William.

Where there any other children of John and Mary Rainbow ??

Any background information on John and Mary would be much appreciated. John's father's name was Joseph.

All information gratefully received.

According to the 1861 census, my g.g.g.grandfather William Rainbow was living on Avenue Road, Hackney. It shows he was born about 1815 in Abthorpe, Northamptonshire. I believe his father was a Joseph Rainbow of Abthorpe, a gardener, born about 1792. Living next to William in 1861 is a John Rainbow, five years younger, also born in Abthorpe, who I presume to be his brother and your g.g.grandfather. In 1847 William was living on Brooksby's Walk, close to Homerton Row when his twin sons were born. It looks to me like we have a link.
