My father, Pablo Tirado Mercado, was also a son of Antonio and Juana. My father married Stella Ospina of Colombia and had four children: Zayda Tirado, Jorge Tirado, Pablo Tirado and me, Francisco Tirado.

Our grandmother Juana Mercado was the grand daugther of the owner of Hacienda Juanita who was her grandmother.

My grandfather was Antonio Tirado Cancel who was married to Inocencia Padilla who I beleive was his third wife. My mother, his daughter, is Anna Maria Tirado who has three brothers.... Samuel, Antonio, and Manuel Tirado.
They lived in Guanica which from what I understand was part of Yauco at the time. The barrio was known as "La Queva". How far back in the family tree of the these Tirados can we go? I understand that his parents came from Venezuela. Can anybody confirm this? E-mail at alopez1065@aol.com

Vanessa,

It's interesting that we've all gotten the same information on Antonio Tirado Cancel. If you go back through the threads on responses to this subject, you'll see a message I posted in response to a query from A. Lopez for information on his grandfather (my great-grandfather). In the this message I include a link to a family tree (prepared by a second cousin of mine) that shows AntonioTirado Cancel decending from a Pablo Tirado and an Antonia Cancel. Are these our ancestors that you say came from Europe and that A. Lopez indicates came from Venezuela?

Growing up I did hear talk about Venezuelan roots but I also heard talk about the Canary Islands. Is this the European connection to which you refer?

I invite anyone reading this who may have some pertinent information on the Pablo Tirado - Antonio Tirado Cancel lineage to post their information.

Thanks,
Cathy

Francisco,

We are related. Antonio Tirado Cancel who was your grandfather, was my great-grandfather. My grandfather was Rosendo Tirado Cruz and my Dad is Pablo Tirado Tirado. My grandfather married a cousin Josefina Tirado.

Rather than repeat the family tree, if you go through the threads on this subject, you'll see the notes I've posted and in a response to A. Lopez I did put in a link to a family tree prepared by a second cousin.

Thanks,
Cathy

Cahty,

I think we are in fact related! If your Rosendo Tirado is someone who we used to call "Tio Sendo"... my father, Pablo Tirado Mercado, was his brother.

I heard that my grandfather, Antonio Tirado, came to southern Puerto Rico from Venezuela.

Francisco,

This makes us first cousins once removed (I think) !

Unfortunately, I never did meet my grandfather as I was born and grew up in NYC. My grandfather died when I was still a little girl. I did however get to meet my Titi Tonia who lived in Ponce. The last time I saw her was a few years before her death. I also grew up knowing my Titi Julia (my Dad's half sister) who lived in the Bronx until re-locating to the DC area to be near her children.

I hope you were able to access the information put together by Dr. David Rosado (his grandmother was sister to Rosendo and your father) on the descendants of Antonio Tirado Cancel.

Please email me and we can trade some more family news.
By the way, are you an IBM employee?

Hi Cathy,

Yes, I am an IBM employee.

I am in the process of putting together a site of the descendants of Antonio Tirado Cancel. I am very interested in the life and times of this, obviously fascinating, but also prolific man.

Frank,

You'd mentioned last year that you were in the process of putting some family information together, and I was wondering if you'd had an opportunity to do this. I had contacted our cousin (Dr. Santiago) on getting any family pictures he may have scanned and sent to me, but I have not heard back from him. I have never seen a picture of my "prolific" great - grandfather, but would very much like to see one and any other ancestor photos you may have.

Do you or your familiy, have any pictures to share online? Please email me with any further information you may have.

Thanks,
Cathy
