I am a descendent of these Ayrshire families who migrated to Illinois USA about 1840-50. I have my Wylies back to Alexander Wyllie, 1775-1844, and his wife Jean Allison. Alexander died in Fullwood, Stewarton and his sons and widow went to America. I am trying to figure out which Alexander Wylie born around 1775 would be mine and would appreciate advice. My Parker ancestor is John Parker, married Joanna Calderwood 1837; again I am stuck trying to nail down my John Parker. Has anyone out there gotten much use from land records?
Thanks, Katherine

I think I will definately have some information for you, offhand, I can add that the Wylies, Parkers, Youngs and Barrs of Stewarton/Dunlop/Kilmaurs were all related and that further back on the Barr side I am having trouble with - early 1800s.

If I can be of any assistance please let me know.

Hi Janet
I am related to Wyllies' from Kilwinning, McAdams, and Montgomeries' from Kilmaurs.
I am having a problem with the McAdam line but have some info on the Montgomeries' and the Wyllies'.
Perhaps we have a link somewhere

I have a Jane (possibly Jean) Wylie, youngest daughter of Thomas Wylie of Caddle Park/Farm Ardrossan, born in Stewarton Ayrshire in abt 1823. She married James Whiteford of Campbeltown Argyllshire in 1849. She was the grandaughter of George Morton of Skylahill (Newmilns???) Ayrshire.

Does this fit any of the Wylies you have in Stewarton?

Look forward to hearing back about this.

to Liz McCall,
Thanks for the reply. My Youngs are East Lothian Youngs, not Ayrshire Youngs, but I would love to hear what you have on the Wylies and Parkers. You can email me directly if that would be easier for you.

HI Liz
I note that this is an old posting, but hopefully you are still interested in genealogy.
I note that you are connected to the Barr family,as well as Wylies, Parkers etc. I have all of those on my tree which mostly is in Fenwick, Stewarton, Kilmaurs and Dunlop. Have you managed to sort out your Barrs?
Regards
Mary in Kilmaurs
