Hi Cindy
I have been researching my Comyns relations with an Australian cousin.
I am pretty certain that your branch immigrated to Cleveland around 1893. Louis Sylvester Comyns came over with his widowed mother, Elizabeth, his brother Jonathan Carr Comyns (junior) and several sisters. The eldest brother stayed behind in England.
The family originated in Ireland, although of course there may have been an earlier connection to Scotland.
Please let me know if you would like to exchange information.
Regards
Chris
