I have a Clara Lietzow, probably born about 1880 who married August Birr before 1906. They had a child in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan: Mata/Meta Birr born 1906 who married 1924 Otto F. Kowalski. There was also a Paul Lietzow in Detroit who may have been a brother, around 1900.

Were your ancestors to Detroit, Wayne County, MI, from Pommern, Germany? The Lietzow I am researching was born in 1856 in Pommern (Pomerania). I need to find his birthplace. Ferdinand Lietzow went to Missouri in 1880 with a family from Kreis Lauenburg,Pommern. He married Adeline Karschnick in Hermann, MO, about 1888. Date of death uncertain.

The PETSCH family I am researching consists of:

Johann and wife, name unknown, born about 1820

His son, Gustav, born about 1845, married Julianne BLASCHKE, in Neuhof, Kreis Lauenburg, Pommern; his daughter, Pauline, married Vincent Muller.
Now I can't link your family to the above but will keep your info for future reference. Thanks for your reply.

I am researching August and Henrike (Henriette) Petsch from Pomerania (city unknown) in 1870. They had 3 children, Carol, Herman and August. They came to NY on 4-16-1870 on the SS Union from Bremen via Southampton.

They lived in Detroit, MI until their deaths circa 1901. They had several more children, Otto, Emile, William and Caroline here.

Does this Petsch match any of your relatives? By the way, my great grandfather (Hermann) started using the name PAIGE instead of Petsch, which was my maiden name.

Thanks for any info you have.

Thanks for the info. My PETSCH family lived in Missouri and one branch went to Lake County, South Dakota. Interestingly my grandmother also used the name Page for her grandmother who was Dorothea PETSCH. I have not connected with any Michigan families as yet but think there are several surnames in Detroit in the 1870's that may be my family. I will let you know if I find more.
