I'm looking for information on any descendendts or forebearers of a couple who married and raised their family in the parish of Muirkirk, Ayr. Adam Begg married Elisabeth Gibson 19 Nov. 1773, their children, all born or christened in Muirkirk according to GROS are listed below:

I can positively account for Adam Begg born in 1785. He wed Jane Fisher from Sorn, Ayr on 25 Apr. 1823, the marriage is registered in both Sorn and Muirkirk. I have his death record at the ripe old age of 91 years dated 14 Feb 1876 at Wood Street, Catrine, Sorn. The record identifies him as a cotton weaver and the widower of Janet Fisher. Adam Begg and Elisabeth Gibson are given as the parents and John Begg, son, living at St. Cuthbert St., Catrine is the witness. The GROS has records for at least four of Adam and Jane Fisher's children born at Sorn:

I'm looking for any other information about this family.

I believe that Agnes Begg, born to Adam Begg and Elisabeth Gibson wed James Nicholson in Muirkirk 25 Feb. 1803. According to GROS they may have had at least three children. Apparently it took the happy couple some time to decide on marriage.

I'd like to hear from anyone with any further information regarding this family.

It's my hypothesis that the Margaret Begg who wed Andrew Lees in Muirkirk on 8 Oct. 1799 was the daughter of Adam Begg and Elisabeth Gibson. The wedding was registered in another parish according to someone's entry in the IGI, they used the spelling "Lorn" but may have meant "Sorn" instead. I'm only aware of one child between them who must have been very wee on account of having been born so prematurely:

Elizabeth Lees, christened Oct 27, 1799 in Muirkirk, Andrew Lees and Margaret Begg parents.

If anyone has any further information regarding this couple I'd like to hear from you.

He married Dec 14 1810 Muirkirk, Ayr to Janet Craig

Carol - I am a new "trial" member and saw your message re Janet Craig Lennox and James Arthur. I have Lennoxes and Arthurs on my family tree (not posted yet) and wonder what dates these two were born/married/died. I do not have them on my family tree, but have Helen Craig marrying William Begg (son of Margaret Lennox and Hugh Begg) and wonder if Janet Craig Lennox is Helen and William's daughter. That particular group of people does get somewhat confusing :)

Janet Craig Lennox (twin) was the daughter of David Lennox and Elizabeth Begg.
birth: 24 Jul 1855, Straiton, Ayrshire
death: 12 Oct 1934, Alloway, Ayrshire.
married: 27 Dec 1877, Maybole, Ayrshire
She was wife #2 to
James Arthur (parents William Arthur and Helen Ferguson)
christ: 27 Sep 1829, Cockpen, Midlothian
died: 3 Oct 1915, Alloway, Ayrshire
They had 8 children that I know of.

I'm not entirely sure where Hugh Begg and Margaret Lennox tie into my family but if I find out anything I 'll let you know.
