Hiya, I am researching my great grandmother, who we know was born in Paddington Work house in 1905 and was adopted by another family. I have my great grandmother's baptism certificate and am trying to decipher the handwriting! Her birth mother is on there, and the name "Albert" which has been crossed out (her father presumably). In the father's trade part it makes some mention of wedlock, but I can't read the phrase. It looks like "hog wedlock" but that makes no sense! Can you take a look at it and tell me how you read it please as I'm sure I'm being daft and it's really obvious!! http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&d...

Thanks, Laura

If you mean the baptism of Ruth FLEET, it's "born out of Holy Wedlock".

If that's not the right baptism, please post the name of your ancestor, since there are quite a few listed on that page.
