Joseph Harvey Wright and Mary Thresa Sturgis also had another son. His name was Frank Leslie. He was born in 1857. He traveled west after moving to Clay County, Kansas and marrying. Story has it that he went looking for gold as he sent gold home. The story is that he was robbed and killed on his way back home. Could have been in Idaho, Montana or Wyoming.
Joseph Harvey Wright's Mother is buried beside him and passed away two weeks after he made it home from the Civil War. Her name was Margarett Moody Wright. Joseph's brother Andrew died on route home and is buried Salisbury,Rowen County, N.C. Andrew and Joseph were prisoners of war and released from Andersonville,Georgia. They were captured in Gunstown, Mississippi, where Andrew was wounded, sent to Tn. and then on to Ga.
Haven't been able to find anything on Joseph and Andrew's Father. If you have any info on him, would love to hear from you. I am under the assumption that he passed sometime in the 1840's possibly in Pa.

Hi!
I'm researching Joseph Harvey Wright as well. I found him through his brother Solomon Rugg Wright. Solomon is my great great grandfather. He was married to Eleanor McFarland. He was born in Pennsylvania 16 May 1831. There's an article in the Wakesha Freeman in 1896 "Solomon Wright a resident, of forty years ago, now of Painesville, Minn., is spending a week among old friends and had a beautiful monument erected to the memory of his mother and brother Jos. who was taken prisoner and died at Andersonville." That lead me to brothers Joseph and Andrews and mother Margarett Moody Wright.

Solomon R Wright owned land in Waushara Co, Wisconsin in 1856 and married Eleanor McFarland in Marguett, Wisconsin 2 Oct 1856. They moved onto Ellsworth, Wi where the first child Alonzo was born in 1857. They eventually moved to Minnesota. They had 4 more children that I know of Thomas Jefferson Wright b 1861, Leander G Wright b 1863, James Edward Wright b 1870 and Joseph Andrew Wright b 1873.

On familysearch I did find a marriage record for Margaret Moody and Joseph Wright married 8 Jan 1829 Ashtubula, Ohio, but is also listed in marriage records transcribed by Sharon Wick " I do hereby certify that I married Joseph Wright of Crawford Co., Pennsylvania to the widow Margaret Moody of Richmond Twp. in Ashtabula Co. Jan. 8, 1829. - John Pickett Jr. JP. Recorded Mar. 2nd 1829 by Saml. Henry, Clerk."

There seem to be a few Joseph Wrights in Crawford Pennsylvania at this time. In 1804 there is a Joseph Wright that taught at the first school. And 1810 a Joesph Wright list in tax-paying residents of Mead Township. 1820 Census has a Joseph Wright in Shenango.

I'm trying to figure out exactly how Margaret Moody Wright and Joseph and Andrew are related to the family of E.C. Hannum. A paper written by Arthur C Hansen that is on file for Joseph and Andrew at Andersonville indicates E.C. Hannum was Joseph H Wrights brother-in-law but what I've found points more to their mother being sisters or related to his wife. If anyone has any information about that relationship I would to have it!

Just wanted to add more information I figured out. Martha Moody who married E.C. Hannum was the daughter or Roswell Moody and Margaret Rugg. Roswell Moody died sometimes before 1827, Margaret then married Joseph in 1829. So Martha is half sister to Solomon, Andrew and Joseph Wright.
