I am a Cooley decendent I have a family tree that I have been working on for years. Would William Lodwick Cooley be a decendent of Peter Cooley? I have him listed being born March 19, 1814. Peter and Nancy had 9 children.William had 2 sisters and 7 brothers.

My William was born 1834 in VA. I show him to have 2 brothers, John and Thomas, and 5 sisters, Nancy,Cynthia,Jenny,Patsey,Maraba and Matilda. There be more children because there is a big gap in the time their parents were married in 1816 and the time Nancy was born, about 1823. These are the children of Edmund Cooley b. 1797 and "Polly" Mary Polly or Dolly Unknown b.abt.1796. Edmund and Polly didn't marry until 1816 in Randolph Co.,NC, where they may have been from originally. There is a possibility that a Peter is kin to this Edmund. I havent been able to make the connection yet.

Hi,
Edmonds father,Noah,was born in 1780 Long Meadow,Mass. D.Manchester Con.
I'm guessing Edmond was born @ 1805ish.
I dont know where he ended up but its possible he went to the Carolinas. If you could find out about his siblings that would help a lot.
Let me know.Thanks,
Carl

Surnames: Cooley
Would your William's wife have been Mary (unknown)? I am hoping to find my greatgrandmother's Melcena Cooley's parents. Did your William Cooley's family reside in Garrad County, KY? The "William" Cooley's are many and have lead in a different direction for me....Melcena had spoke of an uncle John and Thomas Cooley. Hope this is familiar to someone out there.
