My great great grandmother's name is Josephine Sedlacek born in 1866. She married Hynek Sismilch/Susmilch (spelling varies) and they lived in Chicago. It is unclear if they married before or after coming to the States, but the 1900 census shows that both were born in Bohemia, had been married 17 years, and had 6 children. We know for certain that Hynek came from Klisinic, CZ. Klisinic is located south of Prague. I can't remember exactly where off the top of my head though. He seems to have had another wife there. If we could exchange some info, that would be great!

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Tami

Looking for any information on a MAROUSEK, KOPENEC, KOSTNER, KUCERA, STEPANEK, KUCERA, PRUCHA, BREJHOV, SEDLEC, POUZAR families originally from Cook County, Illinois. Most likely moved to Calhoun, County My grandmother was Emma MAROUSEK, b. 2/21/1900 in Cicero, Ill., Cook Co. Her parents were Ignatz MAROUSEK and Emma/Emily nee: RADIL. MAROUSEK was from Pisek, Moravia. He had 1 sister that we know of, Elizabeth. She became a catholic nun by the name of Sr. Nepomecene. Mary MAROUSEK, (possibly another sister or cousin), married Josep KOPENEC on 8/8/1886 in Cook County, Ill., Other Cook County marriages which would be connected are Joseph MAROUSEK to a SEDLEC, Mary MAROUSEK to a POUZAR. Any help locating ancestors or decendantsof these families would be greatly appreciated. Ignaz MAROUSEK had 3 other children, Ladislov, Joseph, and Mary. He moved his family to Todd County, Minnesota. Thanks Kathy

Its interesting that you have the same 2 surnames in the same place. Makes me wonder if they are connected somehow. All of mine seem to go back to Pisek, Moravia on the Marousek line. The Radil side is Lidice, Czecheslovakia. Both Bohemia and Czech are consistent in the history. Chicago, Illinois is where they lived for awhile. Eventually they came to Todd, Co. Minnesota, 1902 or so. I know there were still relatives in Chicago when they left, I just can't figure out who.

Interested in info related to the surname Lokay, originating in Bohemia, probably Kutna Hora. Immigrated to the U.S. in end of 1800's, resided in NY area.

Kucera Radil

Surnames: Kucera, Radil

Our Kucera/Radil line partially originates from Chicago. Anna Kucera is listed as my GGGrandfathers mother however she is also listed as the mother of Margaret Jindrich. Not quite sure how that one ties as my gggrandfather has a sister with the name Anna Brejhv given as the mother. My gggrandfather was Ignatz Marousek b.30 July 1862 Bohemia. Lived in the Chicago area until 1900. m. Emma (Emily) Radil b.25 Dec. 1864 Lidice, Czecheslovakia. Marriage licence in Chicago dated 29 Sept. 1889. There are many related Radil people in the Alexandria, Minnesota area. There is also a Catholic priest by the name Kucera who gave last rites to Margaret Jindrich in Chicago. I believe he may be a brother to Anna Kucera above. This has been a very difficult family to trace with all the crossover of names. Other surnames that tie into this line in Chicago are Kucera, Kostner, Prucha, Major,Jindrich, Brejhv. Any connection? Please get back to me either here or by e-mail. Thanks Kathy would love to share information.
