I have only one Gurganus in my database who may be from Washington County, NC: Mary Ann Gurganus (b. 1835; d. 1894). Do you know who her husband was?

My great-grandmother was Dora Gorganurs. My grandmother, Lillie May Brown, was born in North Carolina. In all honesty, I'm not sure if it is Washington, NC in Beaumont county or Beaumont, NC in Washington county. Dora's husband was George F.Brown. I know basically nothing about researching genealogy, so I would be very grateful for any information.
Thanks, Susan

Joe, Realize your posting was in 2001 but hope you get this. You posted that you had many records on the Gurganus family in N.C. I am from the Smith and Polly Gurganus line thru their daughter Alvania that married Horace Eli Ray on June 20, 1858. 'Polly' was a Wynne and I feel her name was Mary. I would appreciate it if you will check your info for both Smith and Polly's parents, Williamston, Martin County,N.C.
You may e-mail me directly: macksplace1925@suddenlink.net, thanks, Ann Oakley Mckinney

Dau. of Henry S. and Clarisa Ange Gurganus. Sister of Henry Thomas Gurganus.
She was my 2nd great grandmother.
Thank you!

There is an entry at Find-A-Grave for her, and it includes a photograph of Clarisa with her husband and one of their children (at least, it looks as if it's a daughter).

There are links to some of her siblings, and also to her parents.
