I'm looking for any information about relatives of Pietro Garofalo, my great-grandfather. He was born in 1888 in Flumeri, Avellino, Campania. He emigrated to New York in 1907 and moved to Massachusetts. I was told the names of his siblings - Filomena, Addolorata, Nicoline, Michael, Carmen, Pasqueline and Gabriella, but no other info about them. His father was Carmelio Garafalo and mother was Angelia DeAngelisti, but I have no further information about them. Any information about these Garofalos from Flumeri would be appreciated.

I am also looking for this name from Flumeri. My Grandmother was Filomena Garofalo married to Pasquale DeMaria. She died in childbirth 18 August 1930 and her sister Nicoline took the baby.I just started and see that this is an old post. Hope you get it and write to me!

Hi..not sure if these are your relatives, but you could try. Nicholas Garafalo, whose father was Peter Garafalo, was born here in Middleboro, Mass. He had seven or eight sisters and brothers, one named Carmen, one named Michael...sorry I forget the names of the others. Nick lives in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and you might be able to contact him there. My husband was Nicholas GarOfalo and he was a cousin of Nicholas GarAfalo. My husband's father was Pasquale GarOfalo, cousin to Peter Garafalo.

Hi there,

Not sure if you are still searching but my great grandmother Isabella Garofalo (born 1912) had sisters both named filomena and nicolina... seems like it could be more than coincidence.

The name Isabella doesn't seem to be in the family list I have. Angelo Garofalo was my great grandfather. They must be related in some way

My maiden name is Garofalo and my family is originally from Flumeri. My fathers name was Pietro, he was born in 1930i to Angelo Michele and Giuseppa Garofalo. Pietro was said to have been named after grandfather. My father's siblings were called Carmine, Angelina, Gabriella and Nicolina, most would have been born in the 1920's. Nicolina is still in Flumeri and other decendants are now in the UK and Argentina. Hope that helps.

Hello All! Let's see if I can help...I have been compiling information for a couple of years now. It is very hard to know 100% sometimes if your or other peoples information is correct when dealing with different countries from long ago. Names could have been spelled differently, when certain people came over to the U.S., customs spelled peoples names incorrectly, etc. etc.
My last name is Morrone, we come from a town called Baselice. My great-grandmothers side (Garafalo/Garofalo) comes from Flumeri. I have been to Flumeri twice speaking with different distant cousins about what they know of our family history. (an awesome little town). Here is the information I have, through many different resources....again...dates and spellings could be different than yours due to translation issues between Italian/English, births and baptisms.
Carmine Garofalo (1855) wed Angela De Angelis ------>They had 7 children. 1. Nicolina Garofalo (abt 1881) 2. Filomena Garofalo (abt 1886) 3. Michele Angelo Garofalo (abt1893) 4. Pasqualina Garofalo (abt1897) looks like she married Saverio Francesco De Angelis 5. Addolorata Maria Garofalo (abt1900) looks like she married Antonio Abbondandolo 6. My great-grandmother Gabriella Garofalo (1894) who came to the united states in 1913 on the S.S. Cretic, with I believe her cousin or sister (sometimes they went by middle name) Maria and Maria's two children. She lived in Middleboro, Mass and married my g-grandfather Vincenzo Morrone shortly after her arrival. 7. Pietro Garofalo (1888) who came over to the U.S. on the S.S. Europa in 1907. He also moved to Middleboro, MA living next to his sister.

Again, spellings can be different then what you have. When researching on here or various libraries or talking with people you have to think outside the box and use variations of the first name and last name. I hope this information was helpful to someone and if you have any questions or new info that I may not have please message me.
