Theresa, I am looking for a John L. Burkett; cannot find him on census in Tenn. or Texas; I do have a record of marriage for him in Tenn. Your J. L. is probably too old to be him, but maybe--what is date of death? This John L. is my great-grandfather; don't know birthdates either-thanks--

My John L. died sometime in the early 1950s, I think. I found a picture of him from about that time. However, there was a J. Henry Burkett listed in 1920 census for Gibson Cty., age 76.

Sorry, guess it's not the same William. Mine was still alive sometime around 1950; I have a picture of him from that time. And I know he married Aberdeen Nail and don't think he married anyone else. We're probably related anyway!Haha; but it's amazing how people traveled around back then, had children, who traveled some more----------

**Other email is Swampdancr---I think I found something!!!
We DO have a Texas connection, and here is an excerpt from a letter written by another Tenn. Burkett researcher (from an old letter she has) "Jim Burkett (son of George or G.W.) married in Tenn. he had two boy he came to Texas in 1903 left here the next year went to West Texas we never heard from him again." IS Fannin County in West Texas? PS I Found my John L.; he had a uncle named Elliot Murdock; their father was G.W. or George Burkett. Elliot went to Texas sometime before 1888; moved to Honey Grove. Then went to Wagoner, OK, then to New Boston, Texas, then to 'old Burkett place where he died'
Please email me; we are working on this--are you a Burkett?

Honey Grove is in Fannin County & is northeast Texas. My Burketts were there.... & Young County (Central Texas) & also in Oklahoma. There is a George E. Burkett 1894-1918 same place J.L. Burkett's buried along w/ my William F. Burkett. New Boston (Bowie Co) Tx is close to Arkansas border where my J.L. was born in Pike Co, Ark. Where is the 'old Burkett place???? My Mom is a Burkett, her dad is Claude William Burkett.... Can't wait to here from ya!!
