I am still trying to get info on my great+++++grandfather, Peter Watkins. He is said to have been from Wales and came over in late 1600's. Married Mary Griffith around 1700 in Delaware. Died in Old Frederick Cty, Virginia. Had one son, Evan Watkins, in 1710.
Could this possibly be in your line also?
I havent found anyone else with Watkins that came this early to US.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks
Heather

Heather: Was your ancestor, Peter Watkins, the brother of Levin and Mitchell Watkins? I have read that one of the three brothers was the ancestor of three brothers (with the same names)who were born in North Carolina in the mid 1700's. One of the latter group, Mitchell Watkins, was born around 1740. He fought in the Revolutionary War under General Green. He was my great great great grandfather. Do you know if or how he may have been related to your Peter Watkins? Thanks, Oliver

I believe that this is the same Peter Watkins. I have heard his brothers were Levin and Mitchell, but have never been able to find hard evidence. But it is really hard to find evidence of things so long ago.
My Peter (b. apx.1700) fathered a son, Evan (b. 1710) who fathered: Evan Jr., Thomas, and another Peter(b. 1733).
This second Peter fathered an Evan (b.1765), and 9 other children. Evan fathered another Peter and another Evan (b.apx.1810)..sooo confusing.
All were Welch living first in Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and then Alabama...and much later in Texas. (No Peters or Evans made it to Texas)
I would love to find out there is a connection in our families...I need some help sorting all of them out.
Hope to hear from you again,
Heather
