Searching ancestors of William Ford, b. 1793, Cheddar, Somerset, UK

I have reached a dead end working backwards on a family line of Fords from Cheddar, England. Thomas Ford came to the US in the mid 1800s from Cheddar to Irondequoit, NY. His father was William Ford, and his mother's name was Susan (don't know her maiden name). That's as far back as I can trace. Does anyone have any information on this William Ford, born 1793, in Cheddar?

Hi

I think my Fords from Cheddar may also be mixed in with yours although I'm working backwards from my Great Great Grandfather Joshua John Ford born 1832 Cheddar and records and names are a little hazey
According to records Joshua John was baptized by his Grandmother Sarah and Grandfather Robert along with their daughter Mercy.
His mother was only listed as Sarah ...On his marriage Certificate he states his father as John Andrews Ford
I'm a little lost after that....
Feel free to check out my tree and we can hopefully connect the dots

So, it does seem like the William Ford 1771 married to Susan, with son Thomas born 1801 would make a nice match, but the dates don't match and the Thomas on your tree seems to have died at age 21? There must be a relation, though, as I showed some of the photos, particularly of Albert Ford, to my mother (Ford) who saw a strong resemblance to her grandfather, Seth Ford.

I'd like to know more about how you found this strain of Fords? Church records?

Thomas Ford moved from England (from Cheddar) to Irondequoit, NY, and had 12 children. I'm sure some settled in Churchville, NY, which is very close to Chili, NY, where my grandfather Ford lived.

The Churchville cemetery is searchable from the churchville, ny website. I believe my William Ford born around 1890 is buired there along with his wife Jane. Sons or nephews Henry O. Ford a civil war veteran and Thomas Ford with his wife Margaret. This along with a few others in the same family plot that was owned by Thomas Ford. I believe when the other son James moved with his first wife Jane McLaughlin moved with kids to Berlin, Wi. around 1855 father William went with. William is found in subsuquent census in Berlin. I believed that when he died his body was sent back to Churchville to be buried with his wife Jane. Also the town of Riga has a list of veteran graves local and states that Henry O. was born in Madison County, Ny in 1838. Obituary for William's grandson James says he was born in Livingston county in 1855. Would be nice to break through this back to England.
