Jerry,

I think that Adam Barth might be a cousin to my great grandfather Henry Barth of Culbertson, Nebraska. I found a letter that says my great grandmother said her husband had cousins that lived in Campbell. Do you have any information on Adam's parents or grand parents or where he came from?

Adam and Christina farmed at Campbell from about 1890 until he died in 1938. She died in 1949. Both are buried at Campbell. Each were Germans from Russia, born in Kolb in the Ukraine. He was born about 1867, she in about 1869. I think they emigrated about 1888 through Germany and landed at Baltimore. There was a brief period when they farmed with relatives in Canada around 1905, possibly in Alberta. The had two sons who survived to adulthood, Adam Jr. and Clarence and two daughters Marie and my grandmother Ella (sometimes listed as Helen).

planning to visit Campbell Cem.

I talked to a lady last night and she told me that all the church records for Kolb, Russia were distroyed. I'm hoping to piece some of the family together and find out who my great-great-grandfather's parential parents are. Any help would be great.

No idea on Adam's parents. I went to the Franklin County Courthouse in November and found Adam's declaration of intent. They are really helpful. Also, I found obits on both at the library in Franklin. I got some vague leads on the Barth clan in a census of Kolb from the AHSGR in Lincoln, but not much solid information. Feel free to email me direct at cornfed42@hotmail.com. By the way, there is some info on the Barths in the library at Campbell. Adam and Christina are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetary. Take the main street north, out of town and over the bridge and bear right. They are toward the eastern side about midway down the row. Look for a set of real plain granite tablets. Please stay in touch.

Christina Miller Barth was my grandmother. My mother told me this about Christina: Christina married Adam Barth and had several children. My father Clarence Barth was one of them. My father died of a hemorrhagic stroke in 1956. He was in his early 40's. I had a hemorrhagic stoke at the age of 54. It was nearly fatal and I am quite dissabled from it. Christina and Adam emmigated with Jacob Barth. We asssume he was a bother of Adam or possibly their son. He died in Cilbertson , NE and is buried there. Christina had three daughters. My mother believes that they died as young women, but she does not know the cause. One of the daughters was named Ella and one Marie. Please e-mail e with any information you have. I have a picture of Christina somewhere. I will try to find it. Are we related. If you have more questions, I'll ask Mom. My mother, Christina's daughter-in-law is now 87 years old, but has a great memory. Christina's grave is in the Campbell, NE Presbyterian cemetery.
Sincerely,
Ardene Barth
