THANK YOU FOR THE INFO ON DANIEL ROBINS OF NEW JERSEY. SO I MAY CHECK TO SEE IF I HAVE ANYTHING RELATED TO WHAT MAY HELP YOU, WAS THIS DANIEL BORN TO A AARON ROBBINS IN SUSSEX CO, NJ? THERE WERE SO MANY OF THE SAME NAME ALIVE AT THE SAME TIME, I FIQURED I WOULD BETTER ASK OF YOU FIRST.
I saw your note saying you had researched the New Jersey Robins. Have you found anything that would help me get past my roadblock?
I am descended from:
John Robins - born 10 Apr 1760 in Sussex Co., NJ
And Sarah Daily, then
Philips Robins - born 05 Oct 1785 in Washington Co., PA
And Nancy Boyd, then

Samuel Kirk Robins - born 1845 in Shelby Co., IN

And William Young Moore (Will and Mary are my grandparents)
Family tradition says that the Robins family was Scottish and settled around Elizabethtown NJ in the latter half of the 1600s. This is consistent with Daniel and Hope Robins, but I’ve been unable to get farther back than John. It appears that John had a brother named Daniel that moved west at the same time John did.

Looking for more info on parents and possible add. siblings
I have been searching for the parents of my great-great-grandmother, Ann Robins, who married James Gillam. On the 1851 census of Ontario, Ann Robins Gillam is listed as having been born about 1794 in New Jersey. She was living in Gainsborough Twp. of Lincoln County, Ontario, with her husband, James Gillam and several of her children. On the death certificate of James and Ann's oldest son, Thomas, his parents are listed as James Gillam and Ann Robins, and Ann's place of birth is recorded as New Jersey. The dates and places seem to indicate there is a good chance that Ann is a daughter of Daniel Robins, who was born 1765 in New Jersey and died in Ontario in the same area where Ann lived. In the very helpful list of Daniel's children, it shows the oldest son, Thomas, as being born in New Jersey in 1793. The next child listed was Jacob Robins, born in Gainsborough Twp. in 1804. Ann, born about 1794 in New Jersey, would seem to fit between the two sons, having been born not long before Daniel migrated to Canada.
Has anyone seen a will of Daniel Robins, or any other documents that would help establish Ann as Daniel's daughter?
James and Ann Robins Gillam's second son was named Daniel James, a further hint that Ann might be Daniel's daughter. Daniel James married Mary Jane Robbins, daughter of Daniel's son, William Robbins. If Ann is Daniel's daughter, then her son married her brother's daughter.
James and Ann Robins Gillam appeared on both the 1851 and 1861 censuses of Ontario in Gainsborough. I can find no further record of either of them. Their oldest son emigrated to the United States shortly after the Civil War, so whether they stayed in Canada or moved to the U.S., I don't know.
I would appreciate any further clues anyone might have on the connection of Ann Robins Gillam to Daniel Robins.
