Surnames: Gallagher , Mason
Hi
I have a picture of my grandmothers brother (just recently found out that he has a different father!). His was always called William Gallagher and lived in North Shields in 1930 aged about 8 years. His mother was called Elizabeth Ann Gallagher (nee Mason) and married John William Gallagher in 1916 in North Shields, Tynemouth.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me identify which section of the armed forces he was in by taking a look at his uniform.

Royal Navy Petty Officer with one good conduct stripe making his service between 4 and 8 years.

The picture is post WWII and at an informed guess the medal ribbons look to be:
(top) 1939-1945 Star; (2nd row) Atlantic Star (?), Africa Star (?); (3rd row) Burma Star (?), 1939-45 War Medal.
