Interested in information about other Schacks in Schleswig-Holstein or the origins of the Schack or Stender surnames.
My great grandfather, Carl Frederick August Schack, later known as Charles (born 26 Apr 1861)immigrated to Alberta, Canada with his wife Emma and son, Louis. He later returned to Germany and married Helga Stender (my great grandmother) and had sons Carl and Egon. He then immigrated to Brooklyn, New York. I believe his father's name may be Franz Schack and that he was born in Ellenberg though his father later lived in Kappeln.

Wilhelm,
Thank you for your quick response!
I tried the website and I'm a little confused since I'm not sure what the Danish names are for the different places.
How do you know that they would go to the Church in Karby? Is there an archives or site I can go to and look my family up?
I'm new to Danish and German genealogy.
Thanks,
Melissa
