I was born May 29th 1959 in Columbus, OH
I was born Jeffrey Lynn Mouser, Father was
Ronald Joseph Mouser, and mother Janet Lee Cole Mouser. They divorced when I was 5 and
I never heard from my father again. From what
I've been told he was raised by the Rucker family. I remember a cousin named Tim Rucker. I know that my father was in the Korean War and that he worked at one time for the Ohio Gas Co as a Graphic Artist.
If you have information please forward.

I don't know if this is the same Mouser family from Ohio you are interested in, but my great-great grandfather, David Mouser, was born in Pickaway county Sept. 21, 1810, and died Oct. 31, 1896. He was married to a Lucy Thar. David's parents were James Mouser and Mary Potts. James is descended from Michael Mauser, from Heiligen, Wuerttemberg, Germany, born about 1580. David Mouser's daughter, Ellen Lucinda Mouser, married my great grandfather Thomas George Hudson. They lived in Marion County, Ohio I have a good bit of more information on siblings, etc. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

My G-G-Grandfather Peter Mouser was an early settler in Pickaway County, Ohio. My Great-Grandfather married his daughter. Peter was born in Virginia and migrated to Ohio around 1798 according to the History books. I have just begun research on the Mouser family. Johann Jacob Mouser was his father and was a Captain in the Rev. war. He lived in Pa. and came from Germany.

Yes, I have Peter Mouser from Pickaway county in my family tree--I have him down as being born Feb. 18, 1779 from Johann Jacob Mouser and Catherine Shedaker. He is the brother of my gr-gr-gr grandfather James Mouser, so I guess that makes us 5th cousins or something of the sort. If you would like to exchange any files of descendents or ancestors e-mail me at cghudson@mediaone.net. Chris

This is what I started with:

Hampshire County Deeds, Bk. 21 pg. 426, 15 Sept 1818. Peter Mouser & Christina Mouser, his wife of Pickaway co., OH, formerly Christina Hoffman, heir of Conrad Hoffman, deceased, their 1/11 part (of Conrad's property) to Michael Miller & Abraham VanMetre.

Subsequently I found reference to:

Mouser family history in “History of Franklin and Pickaway Counties, Ohio” (1880) states that Peter died in 1872 aged 93 (b. 1779), Christine died about 1855 aged 75 (b. about 1780).

And, since nothing in this racket is straight forward, I also find reference to a cemetery record for Peter of 1779-1838, and for Christina of 1776-1849.

I do not find these people in 1850 census, which makes me wonder about the county history information.

From a Beatty researcher I learn that Peter and Christina’s son Jacob P. Mouser married Mary Ann Beatty, the daughter of Henry Beatty and Conrad Huffman’s daughter Sarah.

I am hoping to contact a descendant/genealogist who has resolved the issue of the dates, and maybe have some more on Christina Huffman and can confirm her parents and dates from independent sources.

Wendell.
