HOOKER of Fairfield Co., OH

Hello, Donald, I also am having a problem identifying my HOOKER connection in Fairfield Co., OH. I have the record of marriage of Jonathan HAY & Elizabeth HOOKER, married by Richard HOOKER, who didn't date the record, but it would have been in May 1809 based on the preceding & following marriage records.

Vernon Co., WI, census of 1860 has Johnathan HAY, 72, b. VA, & Eliza, 70, b. MD.

(John) Adam HAY moved after 1800 to Fairfield Co., OH, from Berkeley Co., VA, but died soon after the move, as his will instructed his heirs to buy land. His sons were John (Feb. or Apr. 1775 - 20 May 1865, Sangamon Co., IL) Peter (ca. 1790- 28 Oct. 1852, Fairfield Co., OH) & the above Jonathan who d. 1860+, Vernon Co., WI.

Ohio Tax List, Amanda Twp., Fairfield Co., OH, 1806 included Mary HAYES, Richard HOOKER, Frederick LEATHERS, & George & Thomas SELBY.

I believe that Samuel HOOKER, son of Richard, married [out of Quaker meeting], before 26 Nov. 1785, when her brother John was censured for accompanying her, Rachel BELT (11 Nov. 1767, Baltimore Co., MD - 7 Feb. 1853, Fairfield Co., OH). No will has been found for Samuel. His widow Rachel left a will but didn't name her children, only the one that had been caring for her. Samuel's brother Richard left a will naming some of his brother's children. A local history also names some of Samuel HOOKER's children but not Elizabeth, who had moved to Wood Co., OH; Wayne Co., IL; & Vernon Co., WI.

I posted a lot of information on GenForum > HOOKER > #761.
