For the other, I have very little information about them.

This is what I know:
Michael Mike Yasofsky born Mar 1863, died 9 Oct 1928.

Married Anna Toth (Birth Mar 1865 in Kapušany, Czechoslovakia)

They lived in Braddock, PA.

I have been verbally told he was from Kolba, Czech. I am unsure of the spelling as I never got to see it written.
I've also been told that this line of my family was mostly Polish. Assuming that they spoke Polish, it may have been in Galicia.

There are conflicting years for arrival in US. (arrived 1880 per 1900 census; arrived 1895 per 1920 census.) I don't know if they made multiple voyages.

The 1920 census says they were naturalized in 1890. I have nothing to support this claim.

Here is another name: John (Janusz) Zelezniak or Zielizniak or Szeleźniak.
Born 8 May 1881, died 1950.
born in Poland or Austria. (Conflicting information. Most likely Galacia.)
Immigrated 1901 or 1902.
Married to Katheran (Catherine?) Rys (or Ryce or Rice) Kane.

Thank you!

Thank you for coming back.
Please do not hold on to "have been told" as in genealogy that does not work. It only gets you stuck since you are concentrating on what the family story was passed down.

Kapusany is in Slovakia [former Czechoslovakia].
We have Kapusany and Velke Kapusany.

We know that in English Y is a J sound is Slovak, Czech, Polish, Slovenian, Croatian etc. The surname has to start with J....
SKY ending in Slovakia means a surname originates from a location in this case Jasov - JASOVSKY.
Slovakia's phone book: JASOVSKY in UTO/phone area code 051 which would be where village Kapusany falls. Slightly more JASOVSKYs in phone area code 056 Michalovce where Velke Kapusany falls.
TOTH surname in large numbers in Velke Kapusany.

May I suggest a post on Slovakia's Ancestry board.

In Polish the spelling would be JASZOWSKI, JANOWSKI,.

Did find TOTH, JASZOWSKI, JANOWSKI, RYS, RYSZ, Żeleżniak in Poland using www.herby.com.pl

take a listen to the pronunciation http://ivona.com Need to use the proper Polish spelling.

John's US church marriage record should have his place of birth. If he was naturalized citizen than his intent & petition will have a place of birth. Look into a SS-5Form - social security as there should be a place of birth and parents names.
