Do you happen to know the names of Mr. & Mrs. VANDERWHALING buried at Milltown, Hutchinson County? The WPA records give his age as 50, but there are no dates.

My great grandfather is Cornelius Vanderweillen. I believe his brother's name was Kryn and I thought his father was also a Kryn until I found land records in Hutchinson county that he had a different name. It was Leonard Nicholas Vanderweillen. I have a letter from the dad asking about Kryn. I was told that Cornelius' grew up in an orphanage in Rochester, New York. Cornelius' bible says he was born in Rochester, New York.
I briefly say the name Kryn Vanderweillen as an artist or painting instructor in Rochester. I only saw it once and never again. It was in reference to a famous painter being taught by Kryn.
I don't know anything about a Mary. I believe when I search for Vanderweillens in South Dakota, a Mary's name shows up with Vanderweillen being spelled with one l.
The lady associated with the post doesn't answer my e-mails, so I don't know if she is still living.
My e-mail is vaughn0501@sbcglobal.net and I will gladly share all I have on the Vanderweillens. How are you related to Kryn?
My grandmother's brother was born in South Dakota and then they traded government land deeds for a place in indian territory (Roosevelt, Oklahoma).

Hi Amy, You're email address is not working for me. Email me at cjsightler@gmail.com. I am Kyrn Vanderweillen's great granddaughter. My grandmother was Margaret Vanderweillen and born in South Dakota. Her father, Kyrn was born in Holland and married Mary Richard who was born in France. She was a widow in the 1900 SD census. I have very little information about Kyrn and Mary but have a picture of her and some of her children. Two children were born in NY according to the1900 census. I can't figure out how or why they went to SD. I look forward to hearing from you. Charlene.

Hi. Amy, I couldn't read all your email on gmail. I am not a member of ancestory so I have limited access to your information and am not familiar with the website. I have pictures of Kyrn & Mary's children if you are interested. I would like to know about the family of Kyrn. His wife Mary was French and I assume they met in the U.S. Kyrn was born in Holland. Let me know if you want to share info. Charlene

Thank you very much for the reply to my query about the Vanderweillens. Now I know Kyrn was possibly not my great grandfathers given name. I do know this research has become quite an adventure. I had visited SD several times to meet family on the Kurtenbach side (my mother). Kyrn is my dad's grandfather and he knew little of him. My dad was born in 1912. Again thank you for your time and feel free to post me again. Charlene Sightler

--And my father was born in 1912.
