Looking to share info with anyone who has info on the Catanzaro family from Sciacca. My branch is descended from Mike Catanzaro and Angelina Manitia. Their kids were:
Mike, Luigi, Louise, John, Vincenzo, Joseph, Gussie, Agnazio and maybe 1 more.
I am a descendant of Joseph who was born 5/3/1853 in Sciacca. He died 5/7/1931. He immigrated in 1888 and married Frances Dimino about 1889. They had kids:
Angelina, Anna (born 1888 in Sciacca), John, Michael, Accurcia, Lillian, Camacio, Lucia (born 1902 in NY). Some kids went to Boston and Gloucester Massachusetts, some to New York and others stayed in Italy.

Not sure if our families are connected but some names are similar. My grandfather was Ignazio Catanzaro - born in Sciacca in 1886. His parents were Guiseppe Catanzaro (born 1843) and Ignazia Ciaccio 1853. My grandfather came through Ellis Island with his sister Maria in 1907 and was said to be staying with his Uncle Michael Catanzaro on Humbolt Street.

Hi all,

My grandfather, Salvatore Catanzaro, was the son (maybe adopted) of Guiseppi (Joseph) Catanzaro, and per his immigration papers his mother was Caterina Fuschia. Salvatore and his father were both born in Sciacca. Salvatore's b-date is Aug 1894. He married Vincenza (Jennie) Mandericcio in 1914.

BTW - two of the most popular surnames in Sciacca's phonebook in 1996 were Catanzaro and Ciacco. My landlord in Brooklyn were Ciacco's from Sciacca as well.

Frank,

My great grandfather is Salvatore Catanzaro and his birth date is 8/17/1894 and his father is Joseph. I can only assume he is also your grandfather. Do you have any other information for Joseph, Catherine, or Vincenza? I have hit a brick wall with my family tree (Sexton Family Tree on Ancestry.com if it could possibly help you.
