Hi Connie,
I too, had relatives from the ark. area named clegg. (Fort Smith, area)... My grandfather was Joseph Clegg, His mother, Ida Clegg. Ida died in Fort Smith when she was in her early 100s.
My grandmother Frances Shaw married Joseph clegg in the 1930s. They had my mother Shirley Clegg, and devorsed before she was 2. This occurred in the St. Louis area. Joseph then moved to Bakerfield, Ca. made his life there with a new wife, Nelly. In some of my mother's belongings after she passed away, I found a clipping in from an old newpaper. It is of a man name Billy Joe Clegg of Seminole, Okla. something about he was on the campaign trail for 2 years because of a dream he had to end the vietnam war. I have no ideal who Billy Joe Clegg is. There is indian in my clegg's pass... this man looks like a mix between indianand white. I too am interested in finding my past. Not so much for me, but for my children. I don't want them looking at photos wondering who people in them are. (like I am doing) Let me know if any of this is helpful to you. sincerely, Donna

Hi Polly, I have some on this. Emma Caufield was the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Caufield. I have a web site with a lot of info on the family but not much on your side. I'm sure we can help each other. Please contact me by email at thikajnc@yahoo.com.

I am the daughter of the Billy Joe Clegg you are speaking of. He was born William Joseph Summers (biological parents: Rubene R. Chipman and Robert B. Summers). He was adopted by Julia Ann Farel (or Farell) and Thomas Golden Clegg. Their baby girl died as an infant and they raised my father (and adopted him as a teenager). I inherited photo albums and clippings from Tom & Julia Clegg (my grandparents) If there is anything you need to know about them...I will try to help you. Carmen

I know its a long shot, but I am looking for information on an O E Clegg, born 1876 in Arkansas, had a child Millie Bertrude Clegg in Tulsa, OK in 1905, and then died Dec 4 1904 in Morillton, (Conway County) Arkansas. He married an Estellar T Montgomery in Conway County Arkansas in 1896. I think OE Clegg's father was a John Clegg who was born and died in Arkansas and his mother was a Lillian Gibbs who died in 1912. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I've attached OE Clegg's and Estellar Montgomery's marriage license.

I noticed that Thomas G. Clegg is one of the children of a great x3 grandfather of mine: William Conroe Clegg. It seems as though many Cleggs have lots of children back then and I'm finding I have lots of family out there. I also noticed that these posts were from a very long time ago and I wanted to see if anyone was still working on the Clegg history and if they had any stories to share as I don't have many stories about my family tree.

I have not been able to confirm completely that William C Clegg was my 3x great grandfather, but I have lots of information on him (documents and images) that I was sent by someone else in case I do determine that he was related. Please email me and I can get some of this to you.

Hi Brandon - I saw your post about having documents and images for William C Clegg. My 3x grandfather was William C Clegg from Georgia. Is that the William you are talking about? I would love to see the docs and images you have.

Thanks - Randy Clegg
