Is John Henry your husband's name? My father is named the same and was born to Walter Cleveland Hamlett, Sr. in Charlotte County, VA. Common name, I'm sure, but great coincidence. I'll check with my family to see if his father's name is familiar.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I haven't done much research on the Hamlett line yet. I do know those that I grew up around. Henry Allen sounds familiar, but I can't be sure. There are a whole lot of us around here. I know my g'grandfathers name was Jesse Hamlett. He had two wives (one was known to me only as Gramma Moselle, and I can't recall the name of the other) and a total of, I believe, 13 children. One of which was my grandpa...Walter Cleveland. I'm not sure about his siblings. But he and 'Lottie' had 8 kids, including Herbert, Walter Jr. and his female twin Jean, Dorothy, John Henry, Carrie and her twin (name escapes me), and one more that I can't seem to grasp. [I was researching another line ALL night, please forgive me.] Jesse Hamlett's line has a family cemetary just off of hwy 727 not far from me. I will be interviewing my Aunt Dorothy about this time next month. If you would like, I can check with her on the names and get back to you. She is our current family historian of sorts...I'm just beginning to learn.

Update...recently found out that my great grandfather Jessie Hamlett was one of 23 children...printed out a copy of your board and stuck it in with my notes, just in case. If I run across any names that match, I'll post again. Just a note that may help...my Hamlett line is tied in several times with a line of Taylor's at a point before Jessie. There used to be a couple in Charlotte County, Va that published a family history newsletter called Taylor Talk. Taylor's and Hamlett's alike were mentioned along with their pedigree's. I'm not sure if they're still doing this, as I understand that they were an elderly couple. I ran across some back issues at my local (miniscule) library. You may be able to find the same at yours.

BevieH, Carrie Hamlett, father Jesse Hamlet, is my grandmother. I was wondering if you have found anything else on the Hamlett family. It stops for me on Jesse's parents and that's as far as I got. Thank you, Susan Parrish Fate
