Phil,

I am originally from Detroit and I knew the Licavolis. If you are not aware, Peter was a prominent Don in the Detroit Mafia, his brother Yonnie had spent many years in prison having been convicted of murder. Peter lived on Balfour st. in Grosse Pte. Mich. They owned a ranch in Tucson, Arizona where they eventually moved to. Peter Licavoli is deceased and so is Yonnie of course. Peters son Michael recently passed away in Tucson from what I hear was a heart attack. There are two other sons, Teddy and Peter and a daughter Cathy. Peter Sr. had a sister who was married to Long Joe Bommarito. You can go to www.ancestry.com and search the Licavoli name to determine the date of Peter's death. His brother Dominick Licavoli was a real estate broker and as far as I know he is still alive and living in Michigan. Hope this helps you.

Abe,
One thing about the son of Peter. It was Teddy that died unexpectedly. Mike the oldest son is still alive as I spoke with Mike's son Peter a few times. Young Peter is in his 30's and recently moved from Tuscon to CA. I am in contact with a very close family acquaintance. Peter LiCavoli's wife Grace is still alive in Tucson and she is in her early 90's.
Abe, are you descended from the LiCavoli line? My grandmother was a LiCavoli from St. Louis.

Hello everyone,
My name is Michelle Licavoli daughter of Michael Licavoli who is very much alive out here in Arizona. My grandfather Peter Licavoli is buried here in Arizona. Grace his wife is alive at 90 years old. Teddy Licavoli passed away over a year ago and is buried with his father. Pictures? I've got pictures. I believe I even have one of Mercucio? I don't know if I spelled his name right. How was he related to Peter and Yonnie?

Read your message with much interest,we are distantly related. Your g-grandfather,Matteo and my grandfather,Giuseppe were brothers. Peter and Yonnie were my father's first cousins, however he never knew them. When my father was 6 months old,Giuseppe died, and my father was sent to an orphanage. We know very little about the history,or the stories of the Licavoli's. Would like to learn more, also would love pictures of old family members.

Hello Michelle,
I am here in Michigan in your grandpa Peter's old stomping ground. I know your brother Peter in CA as we have chatted a few times. My greatgrandfather Mercurio LiCavoli of St. Louis is not a brother or your greatgrandfather Matteo, but I believe they are cousins of some sort. Mercurio died early in life in St. Louis, and arranged for his wife Rosalia to remarry Giuseppe LiCavoli, a neighbor, upon Mercurio's death, which occurred in 1916. Giuseppe is a brother of Matteo, and Domenico, and a couple others. It was the second marriage of both Giuseppe and Rosalia. Each had their own set of children before marriage, and oh boy there were plenty of kids to go around, not to mention children they conceived together. My grandmother Anna was from Rosalia's first marriage. But together, Giuseppe and Rosalia, married in March of 1916, had two other boys of their own. One was Michael LiCavoli, and the other was Matteo LiCavoli. Death hit both parents early and sons aged 2 years old and 6 months, were adopted out to the Arnold family in Illinois. Name changes for the boys were then Michael LiCavoli Arnold, and Joseph Arnold. Baby Matteo's name was changed to Joseph Arnold. These men, sons of Giuseppe LiCavoli, were certainly first cousins to Peter and Yonnie LiCavoli. One son, Michael Arnold moved to CA and eventually died there. Joseph Arnold moved to Mesa, AZ with his daughters and too died there.Giuseppe LiCavoli was my stepgreatgrandfather since he married my greatgrandmother Rosalia. I believe Rosalia's first husband Mercurio was a cousin from way way back. This hasn't been proved yet, but some way they are related. We need more research to take us back to the early 1800's to find that link. Michelle..keep in touch...... Manyfilino@aol.com

Hi Kathleen,
I just found this message board and didn;t relize the info on the LiCavoli family. I would love to tell you about my grandparents.
My Grandmother Grace is here in Tucson, she just turned 90 in March. Her memory is going fast and its hard for her to talk. I do know some things she told me in the past. My Grandfather was a wonderful man. He loved art and became a painter later in life. My brother and I are both artist and learned alot from Papa Pete(thats what we called him) as children.
Please feel free to write me. licavolidesigns@yahoo.com

Hey Phil,

I'm a grandson of Peter Licavoli, My mom Gerri is the twin of my uncle Mike. Mike is still alive and did not die of a heart attack. My grandfather's other son Teddy Licavoli died about 9 years ago of cancer. And about my grandfather being a prominent Don of the mafia you got that all wrong. it was because of his brother Yonnie that gave the Licavoli's a bad name because of what he did in his own life. Yes my Grandfather Peter knew a lot of mafia poeple but he was never in it as much as poeple would believe. My grandfather had 5 children Gerri (my mother) her twin brother Mike, Peter, Cathy and Teddy. And my Grandmother was a Bommarito.

Does your family speak of a son named Salvatore (or Sam)? He had 4 sisters (Marion, Rosie, Josephine, and Antoinette) and 2 brothers (Mike and Dominic). In his obituary, it says he was the son of Peter and Julia (Favazza). He was married to my grandma, and the only grandpa that I knew. Just wondering if there are any connections.
