My gg grandmother was Sarah Ann Mariah Malin, bn 4-30-1831 in Ky., married Joshua B Wallace 8-31-1855 in Hardin Co, Ky at the home of John Malin (father?) bn in PA. Looking for help with this John Malin, and the Malin family in general.

I am not that familiar with the counties in KY for some reason I thought that Livermore was in Mulenberg (sp) county. However, it isi conceivable that with the same last name there is a connection. Do you know John Malin's middle name? I was told that all of my Father's side of the family gave people "famous people names" like Patrick Henry Malin and Christopher Columbus Malin. If your John is John Hancock Malin it would be a possible connection.
What can you share with me?

I am a member of the Malin family in Oxfordshire, England and have information back to 1830. My grandfather was William George Malin, my great grandfather was Rueben Malin and my great great grandfather was William Edwin Malin (1850's). Rueben had brother who immigrated to South Africa and America. If I can help more please let me know.

Thanks Pete

What timeframe did this Patrick Malin live? I know of a Patrick Malin who would have been a mature adult in the early 1900-his middle name was Henry.

Dear Mary:
Thanks for the post. Unfortunately, the Patrick Malin I am looking for was already deceased by 1890, as his wife, Hannah, is listed as a widow in the 1890 Los Angeles, CA city directory. She was only 25 at that time, with at least two children, Edgar Eugen and Ann(e). I have no idea how old Patrick was when he died as I do not know when or where he was born! I also do not see a connection to the Randall Malin line.

Thanks again, we'll all just keep pushing on!

My father Philip Malins was the son of Martha Malins Nee Butler and came from the Oxfordshire areas Martha had a sister called Polly i think. Also I seem to remember my grandmother Martha saying her mother was called Kezia. Any info would be greatly appreciated. ian.malins@btinternet.com.

Surnames: Malin, Dodwell
Bob, Rueben William Malin born abt 1856 at Boarstall, BKM (just across the border from Oxfordshire) married Julia Mary Dodwell in 1883 and had a tribe of children. Rueben's family have an association with Waterperry in Oxfordshire.

Any connection to your family?

No idea. I only go back as far as Noel Allison Malin who married Jesse Patton circa 1918. Know there was an Uncle Christopher Columbus Malin and Patrick Henry Malin-Mulenberg County KY.
