The name Marget Shannon sounded familiar so
I looked it up.
Get this:
My g-g-g-grandmother was named Margaret Shannon (d. 1844).
Margaret Shannon married John Ferns (d. 1849).
Their daughter Margaret Ferns married Thomas Sexton.
Their daughter Gertrude married (Charles) Patrick McKenna.
Is that just a coincidence?

My gggrandmother was Carolilne (Carmody)
Droney from Ireland. Her daughter Maggie
married Bart McKenna. They had 4 children
one was John who married Margaret Shannon on
9/07,1892. She was the daughter of Mary
Reedy and Ready Shannon. If this fits in
your data give me a letter and if you want to
learn more.

Thanks for the reply.
My Margaret Shannon married a John also but it
was John Ferns. This Margaret dies around 1844.
They lived in Montreal.
So it is not the same Margaret Shannon.

It's most likely just a coincidence that they then had
a McKenna join the family a little later.
Her daughter's daughter married a Patrick McKenna in 1904.

Catherine Carmody Droney was my g,g,grandmother. I have much information about the family but also lack a lot. She came from Clare Ireland and brought 3 daughters to America. She had 6 brothers come to America also and all lived at Carrollton, Illinois. Hope you have some info.

Glad to hear from you. One of Kate Droney's brothers was Peter Carmody. He was my gg grandfather. His brothers were Thomas , Patrick, . Peter died in 1861 Michael, John. I do not know of others. Michael was referred to as Michaelogue. John according to my info "married a Yankee' and left carrollton. I do have an obituary for a John Carmody who undoubtedly is that John so maybe my info is wrong. Peter's wife was Mary or Ellen Leyden. My information says that one of Kate's daughters married Bart McKinney, not McKenna. the other 2 girls married. Katherine married Ambrose Walls and Bridget married Charles Christen. My father was good friends with George Christen, long dead. George was the only Christen to marry and have children. George's grandson, George Albert lives in Louisville. The Walls had children and there is some query on the ancestry for Emma Walls. I never knew anything about the McKinneys. Did they stay in Carrollton. Maybe you will give their tree. The only thing I have beyond Peter and Kate is that their father was Thomas. Peter died in 1861, Thomas in 1884, John in 1875 and Patrick in 1857. It seems to me that I saw Kate's name in the 1880 Illinois census, living with bridget Christen
