Please can anyone help? My husband's great great grandmother was an Anna Maria Rote born c1809 Germany, she married John Pittock born c1811 in Manningtree, Essex, around 1830. They had 8 children that I have found so far and Anna died in 1883at Manningtree, Essex. John Pittock was at one time a Lighterman but we have no idea where he met Anna, whefr in Germany she was born , and where they married.

I'm really up against it at the moment

Thank you

Hi Kathleen

Just found this post. Did you ever find any info for Anna Maria Rote.
I am related to the same Pittocks of Manningtree. There is a family myth of a Pittock marrying a german princess? A very important German lady did also visit the family after the war but not sure why. I live in Dover, Kent.

Regards

Hi. I cannot find her birth which was in Germany, or her marriage, but I do have a copy of her death certificate. Perhaps she married in Germany? It is all very interesting and I will get to the bottom of it at some time. Have you any more information?

Which Pittock are you descended from? My husband was born in Dover and his father was John L :Pittock Rector of Pluckley. John married a Janet Fuggle of Broadstairs.

My Great Grandmother was Rose Pittock, daughter of William Pittock of Manningtree. I live in Sandwich and have a photograph taken at Whitfield of the Manningtree & Dover Pittocks having a large picnic together so must be a connection somewhere. I would be interested to find the link.

Hi - I'm on the 14 day free trial and have been doing the Pittock tree on and off since 2000. My great grandfather was Leonard William Pittock and my maternal grandfather was his eldest son William George Pittock b 16 Feb 1902 in Dover. I live in River, Dover and would love to meet/share photos, especially the Manningtree/Whitfield photo mentioned.

By the way, are you sure it is Rote not Rose please?
