Jacob Caleb Whitesell was my great grandfather on my fathers side. He was in the NC Junior reserves during the Civil War and participated in the battle at Ft. Fisher near Wilmington,NC. I have been told he walked home with a 50 cent pc. in his pocket, all that he had. He built a home on the property I live on now. He entered wheat in a contest during a Worlds Fair in the early 1900s. He was asked the name of the farm, and he named it Highland Farm at that time. His son Lacy Jacob is my grandfather and Ray Andrew Whitesell is my father. We have a book that tells a lot of what you are looking for, if I find it, I will try to get more info. to you.
