I am researching Porokh (Davidovich) family ancestry, but sort of hit a wall.
Here is what I know:
Krepostnoi krestyanin with last name Davydovich set the owner's house on fire. After he was caught, his last name was changed to Porokh to make it known that he was dangerous. I know that his descendants lived and some still live in village Slizhino, Minsk area. Here is what I know about ancestors:
Ivan Porokh (born late 1800s, was in some sort of military (havbe picture of him in uniform)
his son Vladimir Ivanovich Porokh (born 1910 in village Slizhino - died about 1939-1942 in Finland War, buried somewhere in Poland) married Anna Stepaniovna Kunizkaya ( born abour 1910)- they had 3 children Tamara, Leonid and Mihail.
their son (my grandfather) Mihail Vladimirovich Porokh (April 19, 1936 - d. April 2009) married Lidiya Sergeevna Kanaeva

If you have any information on this family line, please let me know.

Hello,

I don't know if it might be interesting for you. I've found your Vladimir Ivanovich in the World War victims database. But his last name is Porakh. He was born in 1906, and in 1941 lived with her wife Anna Stjepanovna in Minsk (ul. Internazionalnaja, 2). He was disappeared in 1941 (the same year he was mobilized). From the same village Slizhino there was another Porakh, Yakov Iljich, who in 1941 also lived in Minsk with his wife.

Just for your information, from Slizhino there are two Kunsky (it seems that it might be your Kunizkaya).

Regards, Pavel

Wow, Pavel! Spasibo! I am so used to looking for everything in Russian, that it didn't even occur to me to look for Belarussian version of the names. Could you please share a link to the database you are referring to? I am very grateful!

Pavel,
Thank you again! Thought I'd ask about a few more things - where did you find the record of his mobilization ( just assumption based on 1941, or did you find a document?)

Also, where in the world did you find any documents regarding d. Slizhino? Could you please point me in the right direction.

I am very grateful!
Katya
