Does anyone have any information on Abraham Curd who allegedly married Lear Brooks, the alleged daughter of Reuben Brooks, Sr. Mary Smithpeter (daughter of John Michael Smithpeter Mary Katharine Kyle Fletcher Johnston)of Carter County,TN. He may have had a son named Ezekiel Curd whose son was Richard Franklin Curd whose son was Luther Alvin Curd of Johnson County, TN.

We are aapparently researching the same family line. My granfather was Thomas Jefferson Curd and he had a brother named Luther. I know for a fact that Thomas and Luther's parents were Richard Franklin Curd and Mary (Augustus?) Freeman or Freman Curd. They were married April 25, 1880. Richard's parents were Ezekiel Curd and Mary Ann (Polly Hammons) and they were married April 3, 1857. This much I am confident in. I believe Abraham Curd was Ezekiel's father, but I have not been able determine for a fact that Abraham was Ezekiel's father. An Abraham Curd married a Lear Brooks in Carter County Tennessee on July 5, 1832. In the 1850 census, a Leah Curd, age 37, is listed along with Nancy 17, Abegail 15, Ezekial 13, Polly 10, James 9, Isarah 7, Danile 5, Abram 3. But there is no mention of Abraham. There is an Ezekiel Curd listed in the 1830 census in east Tennessee. In the 1810 census in North Carolina an Ezekiel Curd and Isaiah Curd are listed. Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

My research revolves around Lear Brooks' mother, Mary Smithpeter who married Reuben Brooks of Carter Co., TN. Mary Smithpeter is the daughter of John Michael Smithpeter, Sr. Mary Katharine Kyle Fletcher Johnston of Johnson County, TN. I have very little information on the Curd family and am especially interested in her Lear's descendants. Do you have any information about when Lear Brooks Curd died where?

I don't know when Lear Brooks Curd died or where she was buried. I do know that Richard Franklin Curd (Oct. 11, 1859-Dec. 21, 1933) and his wife, Mary Ann Freeman Curd (1861-1946), are buried at the Dunn Memorial Park Cemetrery, which is located on Forge Creek Road in Shouns, Johnson County, TN. This cemetery is about 3 miles before the North Carolina state line. There are a number of Curds buried there. Richard's mother, Polly Ann Curd (no dates) is buried there. There are numerous "headstones" that are rocks on which the writing is impossible to read. I believe, that Ezekiel Curd is buried there, but the tombstone was difficult to read. Sorry I cannot be of more help. If you have any luck finding more about Lear Brooks, please post it. Thanks.
