I have a very large oval picture of Suzannah Gephart. She is an older woman in this picture and the picture itself is old. She married David Irick. Anyone related to her?

Becky, I can give you allot of information on and about the woman you named in your Query. Would it be possible you you to e-mail me a copy of this picture, so I may have a copy for my files and data base.
Susanna Gephart Irick was a daughter of Joseph Gephart and Christina Hubler of Jackson Township, Preble County, Ohio. Susannah's older sister Catherine Gephart married the younger brother of David Irick, one Joseph Irick, they were sons of Andrew Irick II and Susanna Null both of German Heritage. Joseph and Catherine Gephart Irick move here to Huntington county, Indiana in 1858 from Preble County, where they joined early family members. Catherine's brother George Gephart, and family, older sister Saloma Gephart who married J. Henry Gebhart, and baby sister Mary Gephart who married W. Martin Brady. had earlier removed to Huntington County. In the year 1860, David and Susannah Gephart migrated to Salamonie Township, Huntington County, Indiana, to be with other family members, but 2 years later migrated tp Pike County, Illinois, Where David's brother Jacob and wife, Elizabeth Sherer Irick resided. Spending several years in Pike County and around Pittsfield, Illinois, and after the family were raised, they migrated westward to Bates County, Missouri, where David died in 1886 and Susannah remarried to a Mr. Teagarden, and died in 1917.
Susannah was one of 12 children born to Joseph and Christina, but only the following grew to maturity. George Gephart, Elizabeth "Rebecca" Gephart married to Elias Gebhart of Montgomery County, Margaret Gephart married John G. Mettert, Saloma Gephart wife of J. Henry Gebhart, Rosanna Gephart married Jacob Sherer (whose sister was married to Jacob Irick.) stayed in Preble County, Ohio, Catherine, wife of David Irick, and Mary Gephart Brady.
Joseph Gephart's family migrated to Washington (now Miami) Township, Montgomery County, Ohio in 1805 from Berks County, Pennsylvania. Christina Hubler's parents, Michael Hubler Sr. and wife Margaret Gebhart were also natives of Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1813 at Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.
Saloma Gephart and J.Henry Gebhart are my great grandparents and I have been working with and on the family history for ove 35 years. I have pictures of Susannah Gephart, but want a copy to see if it is different.
If you wish other information on Susannah, please e-mail me direct, I do not check these pages only 4-6 times a years. Thank You Bernard Gebhart, Warren, Indiana.

Bernard, thank you for your reply. I will send you a digital photo made for my WFT files by my dau-in-law. The actual picture is about 19"x13 1/2" oval and hung in my grandmother's home and was given to me after her death in 1970. She is an older woman in the pix and on the back it indicates her second marriage was to "Tidgeon" -- I did not know "Teagarden" -- is this a German derivation? I also have a booklet prepared for Shearer family descendants given to me by my aunt who lived in Pittsfield, IL and it has a brief history of Andrew Irick II in it. I have other Irick family pictures. Do you have any pix of Susanna Null? I have been doing genealogy since 1974 and my mother did some in the 40s and my grandmother kept many old documents. I have diaries written in 1860s and letters before 1900 also. Would like to know more of your research on the lines of which I am a direct descendant. I'll send you a private post with a copy of the picture of Suzanna Gephart. With appreciation, Becky

Bernard, I haven't heard anything from you since I sent you the picture of Suzannah Gephart. My grandmother also saved a copy of a old time magazine which had a picture like the home Suzannah lived in. I sent a copy of that to another fellow researcher of the Gephart line several years back. Am eagerly awaiting a reply from you. Please note the change of email address. Thanks so much. Becky

I read your post and thought there may be a connection with my ggg grandmother Rebecca Gebhart and her husband John Degler. All I have is the 1880 census for Miami Twp., Montgomery Co., OH. I would like to know more about them but what also interests me is that there are alot of Preble County, OH references. I was born and raised in Montgomery County, OH but now live in Preble County, OH. Wouldn't it be cool to meet some new "cousins" along my with adding to my family tree?

Thank you in advance,

Christine
