Any information, particularly about Corsica, would be appreciated. My Great grandfather was Julio Olivieri Piermont. Do no know his father or mothers first names. His father was said to have been born in Marseilles.

It appears Isabel Monsanto Folch and Julio Olivieri Piermont had a daughter named Ricarda Olivieri Monsanto. She, in turn married Teodoro Capifali and had three daughters Alejandrina, Malen and Betina. They also had a son named Amado Capifali y Olivieri. He became the Warden of a penitentiary in Ponce PR. He had a child with Cristina Journet Leclerc in Furnia, Las Marias PR in 1903. Her name was Jovita Journet and she was my grandmother. It really is exciting to put the pieces of ones family tree together.

Hello - Thanks so much for the info. I do have most of that information but you have proven that there was a daughter Bettina. Yes it's very exciting when you find your ancestors. I just found my great-grandfather's family in France.

My uncle sent me a copy of a very old picture of my mother's g-grandmother, Ricarda Olivieri y Monsanto de Capifali, with all three of her daughters, incluing Betina. My g-grandfather, Amado is is not in the picture. He and Cristina Journet had my grandmother out of wedlock and he never gave her his name. It seems his uncle was more of a father to her and from the stories I hear, taught her cock-fighting at a young age. Ive got to call my uncle in PR and ask him if he remembers what his name was.

That would be awesome if you could give me a name to check against my tree. My grandfather was one of the uncles that helped another sister's child and she was always following him. I love these stories bc it puts you back to the time and location and people.

Where do you live? I live in Fl but have gone twice in a yr and a half to visit cousins and to research my ancestors. If thee is anything you want to know from my tree, just let me know. Anyway, I forgot that it's on Ancestry.com. My name is Susie Ortenzi and it's a PAF5 Public Tree.

I live in Richmond,Va,I haven't been back to visit PR in over 20 years, although I keep in touch with my Uncle in PR and a cousin who is the curator for the Pablo Cassals Museum. They are both into geneology. I learned That the Monsantos were Saphardic Jews, originaly from Portugal(Monsanto means holy mountain in Portugues) but fled to Holland during the Spanish inquisition and later became Conversos or Catholics. They came to PR via Curacao and St Thomas which, at one time belonged to the Dutch and where you can still find Monsanto decendents today, many of who are still part of one of the oldest synagogues in the West Indies. They became major players in the Caribbean sugar industry and later sold their holdings to the world renowned Monsanto Chemicals(I didn't get a dime either.LOL). I would like to hear from you as well. My e-mail address is caldetres@utechllc.com

My grandfather Eugenio Ortenzi came from Musciano S. Angelo, Abruzzi, Italy. It is a village outside of Teramo. He emigrated in 1914 to Ellis Island then on to Philadelphia PA ending in Hamburg PA. He rarely spoke of his family so we know very little. He had 1 nephew he kept in touch with in Ontario CN. Since the Ortenzi's are from the Abruzzi area, I am assuming we would be related!

Hi Patty,

I'm not sure if we are related, actually it's my husband that carries the Ortenzi name, because his family is from Ascoli Picena and The Marche. I know there aren't that many Ortenzis and that supposedly they are all related. Did your grandfather ever tell you his father's name? Or his mother's name? When we went to Utah to the Family Library, my husband made copies of about 25 or more Ortenzi documents. I am going to look thru them to see if there is a Eugenio Ortenzi birth certificate. I'll let you know if I do, OK?

My name is Jose Enrique Rivera Olivieri. My mother's maiden name was Olivieri. After Mom's death I began searching my roots. I am a resident of Coamo, Puerto Rico. In my search I have gone back to Pino, Corcega circa 1806. Juan Bautista Olivieri Agostini was my 3rd great grandfather born in Pino, Corcega around 1806 showing up in historical records I have been able to find in my search. If anyone is interested, you may contact me at jriveraolivieri@yahoo.com.
I would gladly share information with all who are interested. FYI, I am 57 years old, fluent in both Spanish and English married to the love of my life for 36 six years with which we have three children (big brats now, LOL) and a 4 year old grandson which takes up most of our time. I go by the nickname Kike. Hope to hear from you! maybe we are related

Peace to all,

Kike
