Searching for info. on William N. and Elizabeth // Kell(e)y -- they are my gggrandparents. They appear in the Lebanon Township 1860 census as: William N. (30), Elizabeth (26), James H. (3) and Virginia (2). Then James H. appears in the Buchanan Cty. 1900 census as: James H. (44), Margaret E. (39), Robert F. (should be S.) (18), Eva L. (11), Bertha M. (9), William S. (5), and Richard M. (2). It says James and Margaret only married 12 years, so Robert would be son of first marriage to ?. William N. >> James H. >> Robert S. (married Lydia Margaret Compton d/o Miles Levi and Louisa Octavia (Jackson) Compton of Buchanan Cty.) >> Henry Ford Kelly >> me.

Also, found Civil War Widows Pension for Elizabeth P. Kelly widow of Wm. N. Kelly from Buchanan Cty., VA approved Nov. 27, 1891 -- unit hard to read -- need help -- not on Library of VA roster online -- unit reads "Company of N.J. ??? (5?)7 Virginia Regiment of Infantre" and Wm. N. Kelly died at Richmond in 1861 from fever contracted while in actual service in the Confederate Army. Also says Wm. N. Kelly and Elizabeth // were married August 2nd. 1852 in Russell Cty., VA and that she never remarried.

Does anyone out there know these families or their ancestors/descendants? Thanks, Linda

I found this old posting . I am the grandson of Eva L Kelly (Adkins) I know her parents were James (Big Jim ) H. Kelly and Margaret Elizabeth Kelly of the Garden District of Buchanan. Eva was born e 1888.
I know that James H Kellys mother was living with him as head of household in the 1880 census. I had wondered if she was a Civil War widow. Do you have any further info?
