I am seeking information regarding Andr. Joh. SMERKOL who arrived at the port of Baltimore on the steamship Gera on May 19th, 1892. He was listed as a native of Austria, last residence was Litai. His destination was Pennsylvania, and his occupation, miner. I am trying to determine if this man could be my ancestor, John SMARKOL, who, according to the census, was born in Austria in 1864. John died in Pittsburgh, PA in 1938, and is buried in a Martins Ferry, Ohio cemetery. By occupation, he was also a miner. John's son told that each year he would order a calendar from Ljubljana. I have been told that he is the grandson of Urban Smrkolj of Dvor near Litija. Any information would be appreciated!
