I don't live in Manitoba but thought that I would mention that on our great grandmother's birth certificate the town is Two Rivers. It was near the town of Treesbank which isn't too far from Brandon, so Two Rivers was a place.

Hi Wendy:

I have a Waghorns Guide from 1947, page 41.
By looking at this I would think that Two Creeks is west of Brandon toward the Manitoba - Saskatchewan border, on the C. P. R. line.

On the right side of the list of Towns is two columns with the following trains listed in the columns in this order. N 159 psgr. Tues. & Sa. - No. 59 psgr. M, W,Th, F.
Coach Fair Brandon to Two Creeks is $1.85
Milage - Brandon to Two Creeks - 61 miles.
Two Creeks is a schudual stop in both directions.

The Town of Virden is the closest place of any size and is only a few miles south west of Two Creeks. We pass by Two Creeks occaisionally and all I recall is a large school building which appears to be all boarded up.
The Village of Miniota is north a short distance and they may have some info. There are local history books for almost every are of Manitoba but you just have to check around to locate them. Good searching.

Hi Wendy:

Check out this site: Not exactly sure all that you will find but I did find a short write up on Two Creeks at Place Names of Manitoba. Page 130. And some mention of it in various other books on line. Their were also lots of hits for Mortimer. You can sift throught them at your will.

I found Two Rivers, Manitoba. It was only a Post Office and was located at Sec. 16, Twp. 8 R.16 W1.
This is where the Souris River joins the Assiniboine River, in the area of Treesbank. The Post Office operated from
1880 - 11 - 01 to 1883 - 10 - 01. The Post Master was George Newcomb. The " name of office" was Souris Mouth.

From other info I understand it was on a farm owned by Mr. Clark. I have enquiries out as to whether anyone in the area might have heard of Emma Mortimer so hopefully will find something for you. Murray

many thanks for all your help.i have reason to believe her married name was radwell,i have a marriage certificate that could be her,(jher fathers name is incorrect though)also there is a emma radwell on the passengers of immigrants to canada, but need to check the electorial rolls over here to make sure, but it looks kind of sure that its her.two rivers seems an isolated place.someone else told me it was a stop-over town for in-coming immigrants, seems a strange place for someone to live.maybe i won't find out because emma was not in canada in 1918 she was age 30 then , and at her mothers 2nd marriage, here in england.1921 would tell me but thats not for 10 yrs yet(smile)but any info is good news ,thanks ever so much for helping...best wishes wendy..
