I am looking for any possible information on the Butara family from Krska Slovenia. My great grandfather (born 1893) came over in 1910. He is the only sibling that we know of to come over to the U.S. I am looking for ANY/ALL information on where he came from. I know he had 11 siblings but he did not know all of them. Here is the info I have:

Siblings: Johan died 1984, Tone (tony) died 1970, Caroline died in 1977, Ernest died 1964, Frank was the oldest, Mary died at 19 yrs. 12 children in total johan was four when Joe left at 17 yrs old in 1910. Mary Krompe was their mothers maiden name. During WWII all went to concentration camp in Germany they returned to the house and it was still standing and regained ownership. The village was Krska

The place is probably Krška vas ( Krška vilage).
There are 104 people in Slovenia with last name Butara, so there are all related.

There is stil Olga Butara living there, so the best thing is to coll her and ask her If you are related.

Thank you so much for your help! I believe that was my great grandmother. Mary Grampc, born in 1903 in Cleveland Ohio. She married my great grandfather, Joseph (or Josef) Butara. He is the one who came over from Slovenia.

Hi,

Really nice seeing this message trail, especially the last bit. I say this because my dad, Jozef Butara, came from cerklje to toronto when he was 21, just as he finished up army duties in Slovenia. He was born in 1945 in a concentration camp in Germany. His mothers name is maria and father, like me, frank. He had a half brother named frank, but he died in germany about two years ago at the age of 71.

I'm not sure if Karolina is in any way, shape or form related to my grandfather frank or grandmother maria, but the similarities are a little too coincidental. Let me know if you found out any other details.

Thank,

Frank butara
