Dear All,

Dear Gary,

I am also a Mocnik from Blagovica and wondering how we fit together and fell apart as a family. My grandfather was Johann Mocnik (b. 1903, who came to Ellis Island on 6/4/1912 with his mother Agnes (b. 1871-1872), brothers Martin (b.1901-1902), Josef (b.1900-1901)and sisters Marie (b.1903-1904) and Franciska (b. 1886-1887)on the ship Chicago. They settled in Weir KS (outside of Pittsburg). The father was Josef (b.1870-1871) who came to America in 1904. Blagovica ia not too big that we are not related somehow, and the research your family has done seems to highlight similar names. I would love to start to communicate with you about your family. I am second generation and my father is the son of Johann (John). US Army changed John's name to Mosnick in 1918.

All of your family research seems to uncover similar family names, so I suspect we are related somehow. Please feel free to contact me at larry.mosnick@att.net or 847.980.4290.

Warmest Regards,

Larry Mosnick

Attached is a link to photos of the Mocniks that settled in Franklin, Kansas. Also a link to the new Miners Hall Museum in Franklin which honors the immigrants who came to southeast Kansas to work in the mining industry. Hope this is helpful to you.
