John W. Boyer, my ggg grandfather, b 11/20/1827, married Catherine Moorhouse, daughter of Daniel Moorhouse (b 4/8/1781) and Lucy Thomas (b1/25/1787), and all are listed as being from Newtown in Fairfield Co, CT. This information is taken from the Moorhouse family bible. Is there a possibility that Morehouse became Moorhouse?
Thnx,

Thomas Morehouse was my immigrant ancestor was at Weathersfield in 1640. He was among the first to receive a grant of seven acres in Stamford. He is found at Fairfield before 1653. Thomas Morehouse as believed, was the ancestor of all the Morehouses in America; any assertation to the contrary needs confirmation. His name was sometimes spelled in the arly records Moorhouse and at least one branch of his descendants now spell their name Morhous; it is believed that another has adopted Morris

you are well informed. Another spelling is Muirhouse.

These is extensive data on the family in USA. However, no one can confirm where Thomas came from. Any ideas? May have been a name change.
