Hi,
I'm looking for information about my great-grandfather, Jacob Logar. He was Slovenian, born in 1878 in Zaplana, Austria, left home very early to apprentice as a carpenter and came to Cleveland, Ohio from Vrhnika in 1898. He married Magdalena (Helen) Krasovec. From the ship information I believe he had an aunt in Cleveland, but that's all the information I can find about his earlier life. Any help is appreciated!

I am going to follow up on your Ellis Island list. I have 4 Krasovec sisters from Vrhnika who all married at Mother Of God Catholic Church in Waukegan IL. Their parents were John Krasovec and Marija Grom.

Thank you again! The Cleveland necrology site provided some new information on the Krasovecs and several of the other suggestions should be worth exploring. Helena Krasovec Logar was from Bloka or Bloke, Austria and the families were Catholic but the other sites look great. My cousin is sending me the research her mother did thirty years ago and that may provide some additional clues.
