I am reserching David Weeks Magill. He was an officer in the 8th Battalion Louisiana Artillery CSA. He was killed at Vicksburg June 14th 1863 at 6:00 am.

Could anyone please help me with infromation on David?

David b.1841/1842 St. Martinville, LA. Succession #1811 in St. Martinville. 1850 census in St. Martinville. 1860 census in St. Martin Parish between SM and Fausse Point (now Loreauville) as a planter.

Son of Augustin S. Magill (c.1811 VA-1851), lawyer & Frances Mary Weeks (c.1822-1856) m.5 May 1841, New Iberia.

Lt. David Weeks Magill is burried at the McNutt House in Vicksburg, MS where he died of wounds during the seige of Vicksburg at 6:00 p.m. on 4 June, 1863. He was the grand son of Mary Moore of the plantation Shadows of the Tesch in New Iberia, LA. Letters he wrote to his grandmother may be found at LSU. No photo of him can be found but was described to be approx 5' 8", 135 lbs.
