Would you have a James Andrews in your research born in 1802 son of John and Mary Andrews? Would like to know if James had a brother named Jesse born 1805.

Libby,

I descend from James (b.1802) and Mary Andrews. My lineage is:

Claude Reeves Andrews b.1900 Alleghany Co., NC.
Emmett Clinton Andrews " "
Martin Andrews " "
James (b.1802) " "
John Andrews Chapel Hill area of NC and Grayson Co., VA
William Andrews Chapel Hill area of NC

I will look into my records to see if there is a Jesse. I do know off the top of my head that there were a number of brothers, one of which was Berry Anders of Grayson Co., VA. All of the "Anders" and "Andrews" are actually the same family. The true spelling is ANDREWS.

Daryl, what HAPES do you have in your family? I am trying to find out about the family of Charles HAPES b. 1845 NY, d. 1921 MO. Is your Hapes line in Allegheny Co., NC? Some believe that Charles was the son of William Hapes and was orphaned. Another person believes he had a brother? Charles had a daughter, Harriet that married an Andrews, but thought that was in Missouri. Let me know if same family. Leanna Smith Eversmeyer

I am also searching Brooks, Cheek, Crouse, and Edwards - would love to exchange info.

Brooks: Stokes H. and Clarissa Reynolds Brooks - I have lots of info - just want to verify and maybe collect more - like who was Stokes' parents?

Cheek: Looking for the elusive Henderson Cheek and Julia (Juda) Ann Bagley - they were married in Wilkes, but he may have been born in VA and travelled to Wilkes by way of Alleghany.

Crouse and Edwards: I am looking for Stokes Edwards who married Elizabeth Couch abt. 1865 in Surry Co., NC. I know that there is a couple by this name in the Surry/Alleghany/Wilkes Co., NC area during that time - unfortunately the dates are very varied. I am actually particularly looking for information on Henry Houston Crouse and Tinney/Tynna/Tina L. Edwards who were married in the 1880's in Alleghany Co., NC. Their marriage license list Henry's parents as William A. and Mahala Crouse and her parents as Stokes Edwards and Elizabeth. He would have been in his early 20's and she maybe 19 or 20 (sorry, I don't have the document in front of me at the moment). I know nothing of Tinney other than I have been told she may have had a brother "Rome??" and that she was disowned by her family - possibly for being pregnant before marriage. Any thoughts?

Hi: I just found your post on the Elizabeth Couch and Stokes Edwards and also Henry Crouse marrying Tina Edwards. I am a descendant of Stokes and Elizabeth from Surry County, NC. Their great grandaughter is directly in my lineage and she lived in Thurmound, Surry County, NC. I have only found one other descendant (now in Kansas) that spring's from one of the siblings of Elzabeth Couch's grandchildren. If you know any more on Elizabeth let me know.

Thank you for responding. Do you know anything about Tynna/Tien/Tiny Edwards? That is my line from Stokes and Elizabeth. I believe she would have been a granddaughter of their's since they signed her marriage license, but were so much older than she was. She had a brother "Rome" or Jerome. That is all that I know. I would be happy to trade family info on my line with you.
