I have managed to trace my ancesters to Capt. William
Carver, who was executed by the British in 1676 as part of
Bacon's Rebellion.

Does anyone have any idea who were his parents, etc or perhaps could point
me in the direction of where I may obtain information on his ancesters?

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone help trace the origin of my granfather?
I know very little, but family lore says that he came to
Louisiana from New Jersey, perhaps Jersey City. He married
a young woman named Mary Becker and they had three children.
There was talk of his brother named Lonny. He died in 1909.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The only thorough reference I know of on the Carvers of New England
was written by my grandfather in 1935. The book which he privately published (117 copies and probably findable
in libraries in N.England) was called "The Carver Family of New England - Robert Carver of Marshfield and his descendants" Compiled by Clifford N. Carver

Here's an interesting bit from the intro on the origin of the
name Carver: "The names Adam Le Kerver and Richard Le Kerver are first found in England on the Hundred rolls, but in searching gnealogical records from that period on, although it is noticed that the spelling soon becomes modified to Carver, little more than the recording of the usual lives of yeoman stock is to bwe discovered.

"Although the primary records peertaining to the name came from Cornwall and Dorset in the beginning of the 15th century, others may be found from Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Leicestershrie, Essex and Sussex from the end of the 15th century right through the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries....and it appears there were 2 distinct families in England, one of the South and one of the North..."

More info please
