Does anyone have any information on the family of Nicholas Gangloff in the East Ward of Newark (Essex Co.) New Jersey in the 1840 census? I believe he had a son Nicholas, who married in Boston Massachusetts in 1853, resided in Gloucester MA, and died in Beverly in the 1910s. I am looking for any other info on the NJ (or MA) family.

Barry

p.s. He appears as yet unrelated to my own ancestors, but his apparent granddaughter married one of my wife's ancestors's cousins.

Surnames: Gangloff
Dear Barry,
I have a feeling we may have a connection. My mother was Shirley B. Gangloff of Beverly, Ma her father was Robert F. Gangloff,of Gloucester, Ma and they are both buried in Central Cemetary in Beverly Massachusetts. The Family Plot lists Nicholas and George on the tombstone. Feel free to email me back when you can. I never realized Nicholas was from NJ. I believe we have pictures of either Nicolas or George somewhere in our family.

Hi Deb,

I have Robert's ancestry back at least three more generations. My great-great grandmother was also a Gangloff, from Le Havre, France, via Hamburg, Germany, but settled in the Boston area as well.

I could have sworn my email address was attached to these posts. You can drop me a line, and we can discuss this all, at: arkaig1@aol.com
