My grandmother was a Garrido. She was born in Granada, Spain. Her parents immigrated their family to the Philippines because they had a relative who had immigrated from Spain previously. Their were several children in this family. My grandmother married a Corrales and is the mother of Pilita Corrales who has had a long and famous career starting as a singer in the Philippines. Do any of you know that you have ties to this part of the Garrido family?

I was born and raised in the US where my parents immigrated to.

Hi! I didn't know that. This is awesome! I wonder if my great-great grandfather was from Spain, too. Wish I could trace that back. Our family tree only starts from my great-great grandfather & my mom doesn't know about it. This is really getting interesting.

It's nice to know that the Garrido clan has reached most parts of the globe.

Hi, I was told that our Garrido is from Jaro, Leyte. But my grandfather Custodio Makabenta Garrido (Born 1914- Died 1988) stayed in Carigara, Leyte. He married Jacinta Lola (1913 - 2007). I heard that the Garridos are from Iloilo.

this is bong garrido. hi to all the double "Rs" -- that is how our folks call us in surigao del norte - and my brother topped that by marrying an "yparraguirre" she with 4 Rs!!!.

i've been travelling a lot lately in the philippines lately and "garrido-hinting/hunting" is a fun side-conversation. I have found kins in cagayan de oro, ozamis city, cebu and iloilo and there are cheeky encounters with a "carrido", a "garredo"...

meanwhile, googling "garrido" will likely give you spanish sites the likes of spain, venezuela, panama, costa rica -- so we are a latin lot??? hmmm, this is getting to be interesting.
