I am researching Garrett Van Ness b.1750 married 1810 to Effie Sharp Northampton,Fulton Co N.Y.both died at Northampton N.Y. He d.1842 and she d.1888 They had a dauthter Rachel Van Ness and this is all we know about them. Rachel married Jacob Elias Lobdell.

Garrett was a Lt in the Revolutionairy War.

Obit: No date or newspaper name. Garrett C. Morse died last week, Thursday night at his home on 106 Haverling St, This village (Bath, Steuben, NY), from pneumonia, age 83yrs.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 Sunday at his home. Pastor Rev D. Box of the Methodist Church, officiated. He was buried in Nondaga Cemetery. Mr Morse was the son of William Henry & Eliza (Doran) Morse & was born 30 Jul 1845 in New Jersey. He spent 62 years in the Town of Wheeler, removing to this village last October. In 1867 he married Emma Brewer of this town & 7-children were born to them.
He is survived by his wife & 4-sons, Henry Morse, Monroe Morse, Clarence Morse & Jesse Morse; & 3-daughters, Mrs Louise Russell of Bath, Mrs Anna Van Housen of Savona, &
Mrs Sam Taylor of Howard, NY. Mr Morse was a Civil War Veteran & a member of the GAR. He served as Corporal & Had a fine record. He was a member of the Harrisburg Hollow Church & a citizen of the very highest esteem.
Note: May (Read) Morse stated that he died of a stroke 1929
