I am seeking clarification as to who Thomas's wife was. I have seen Sarah Weaver and just recently seen Ann Shropshire.

According to the book "Fauquier Families, 1759-1799", the wife of Thomas was named Sarah, assuming this is the Thomas who had children Wm., Thomas, Edwin, Hannah, Sarah,John, Charles, Betty, and Eli. The book mentions a deed in 1761 relating to a sale of land by Thomas and Sarah Porter to wm. Hunton.

thank you. The information I originally received stated Thomas married a Sarah so it wa a surprise to see this Ann Shropshire from another person's research as his wife, unless Thomas was married more than once. Is this Fauquier Families, 1759-1799 Book available to purchase?

There are two different Thomas PORTERs, both from Fauquier.

My ancestor is Capt. Thomas PORTER b. c. 1734 England d. 1799 Fauquier who m Sarah WEAVER, dau of Tighlman WEAVER of Germanna.

The Thomas who m Ann SHROPSHIRE was born c 1720 and also served in the Am Rev. He was supposedly the son of Thomas PORTER and Ann CALVERT. This Thomas was probably born in Stafford Co., VA
