Kenneth "Puggie" Portwood, 78, of Midway, Kentucky, husband of Dixie Hounschell Portwood, died January 24, 2002 at his residence. Born in Scott County, he was a son of the late Eddie and Lida Mullin Portwood, and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and had been a P.O.W. He was a retired hardware clerk, having worked for Your Hardware in Versailles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gretchen Portwood Arehart of Manassas, Virginia; a son, Richard Mullin Portwood of Georgetwon; three sisters, Mildred Johnston of Midway, Dorothy Helen Lacefield of Harrodsburg,and Betty Woodrum of Jessamine County; two brothers, Armon Portwood of Midway, and James Portwood of Lexington; two grandchildren, Heather Nicole Portwood, Georgetown, and Ian Christopher Portwood of Danville; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Ian Portwood and Jeremy Richard Portwood. There were no services. Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of arrangements.
